The Herders went down to face the Roundup Panthers in a conference battle. The game promised to be a great one, as last year Roundup spoiled Big Timber’s hopes of the playoffs with a field goal as time expired. The winner of this game would be at the top of the conference and in the driver’s seat, controlling their own destiny.

The Herders started fast with Brent Finn recovering a fumble. Two plays later the fireworks started when Sam Curry ripped off 67 of his total 108 yard on the ground, screaming up the sideline, until he was finally pushed out of bounds at the six yard-line. Brent Finn would punch it in for his first score of the night.

Although the Herder offense was looking sharp early, Roundup’s offense was also flexing its muscles. Tristan Salthe was the workhorse for the Panthers, racking up 154 yards on the ground.

With great running back plays for both teams, offenses were dominant both ways. Ol’ reliable, Ryan Morgan, had a day to take control of the game! Morgan was the game’s leading rusher with 156 yards with a score.  Morgan also had a interception return inside the twenty.

The Herders pulled it out, 22-27. The Herders travel to Columbus to tangle with the Cougar next Friday, October 16th. This promises to be an exciting game with lots of emotion, as the Cougars also look to take the top spot in the conference. However, the Herders look to keep the momentum on their side coming down the home stretch to playoffs.
